  • On 27 February 2026, an organ donation awareness session was conducted at the RTO Office, Wadala for driving licence applicants. The session was led by Ms. Sakshi Kshirsagar, Project Manager from MOHAN Foundation.

The session began with an introduction to MOHAN Foundation, highlighting the organization’s mission and its work in promoting organ and tissue donation across India. Ms. Sakshi explained the importance of organ donation and how it can save multiple lives.

During the session, she introduced the participants to the concept of organ donation, explaining the different types of donors, including living donors and deceased donors. She also explained the types of death relevant to organ donation, particularly cardiac death and brain death, and clarified how organs can be donated in these situations.

The participants were informed about the age considerations in organ donation, emphasizing that individuals of different age groups may still be eligible to donate organs depending on medical suitability.

Ms. Sakshi also spoke about the legal framework governing organ donation in India, explaining that the process is regulated under established laws to ensure ethical and transparent transplantation practices.

A key highlight of the session was the discussion about the driving licence application process, where applicants are asked during the online licence examination whether they would like to pledge their organs (Yes/No). The session emphasized that many applicants are unaware of this option or the significance of organ donation. Therefore, such awareness sessions are essential to help people make informed decisions while applying for their driving licences.

The session was interactive, and participants actively engaged by asking questions. Some of the common questions raised during the discussion included:

    • What is the age limit for organ donation?

    • What is the time limit for organ transplantation after death?

    • How does the organ donation process work?

All queries were addressed during the session, helping participants gain a clearer understanding of the organ donation process and its impact on saving lives. Around 70 people attended the awareness session.

Overall, the session successfully increased awareness among the licence applicants and encouraged them to consider pledging their organs, thereby contributing to the noble cause of saving lives through organ donation.
