Awareness Session Conducted at Bhausaheb Vartak and Indutai Vartak Vishramdham (Old Age Home), Kelwe, Palghar

  • An eye donation awareness session was conducted on February 1, 2026, at Bhausaheb Vartak and Indutai Vartak Vishramdham (Old Age Home), Kelwe, Palghar, following an invitation to MOHAN Foundation. The session was specifically organized for elderly residents with the objective of creating awareness about eye donation and encouraging their participation in this noble cause.

     

    The session was facilitated by Ms. Prachiti Mali, who provided detailed information on the concept of eye donation and its significance in restoring vision through corneal transplantation. She explained the causes of corneal blindness, the importance of corneal tissue, necessary precautions, and the eligibility criteria, emphasizing that there is no strict upper age limit for eye donation, making elderly individuals equally eligible to contribute.

     

    In addition, important legal aspects of eye donation, including consent procedures and the role of family members, were discussed. Ms. Prachiti also addressed common myths and misconceptions associated with eye donation, providing clear and factual explanations to enhance understanding among the participants.

     

    A total of 25 elderly members attended the session. The participants showed interest and actively engaged in the discussion by raising various queries, which were addressed during the session. Several participants also came forward to pledge for eye donation.
