On April 15, 2026, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Regional Transport Office Borivali to conduct an awareness session on organ and tissue donation during the auto rickshaw passing examination at Aarey Colony. The session aimed to sensitize auto rickshaw drivers about the importance of organ and tissue donation and to encourage them to support this life-saving cause.
The session was facilitated by Mr. Nikhil, who introduced the work and vision of MOHAN Foundation and its mission to promote tissue donation across the country. He provided detailed information on the concepts of eye donation, including the need for donors, eligibility criteria, and the process involved in registration and donation. Important aspects such as brain stem death, consent procedures, and the role of family members were also explained.
Approximately 150 auto rickshaw drivers attended the session. The participants were highly interactive and actively engaged in the discussion. Several queries were raised, particularly regarding where to contact and the procedure for registering as an organ donor. These questions were addressed comprehensively, helping participants gain clarity and confidence about the donation process.
The initiative was strongly supported by Mr. Gaikwad Sir from RTO Borivali, who took a proactive step in organizing the session and facilitating awareness among the drivers. His efforts played a significant role in reaching out to a large number of individuals from the transport community. MOHAN Foundation expresses its sincere gratitude to RTO Borivali and Mr. Gaikwad Sir for their support and collaboration in organizing this session and for their commitment to promoting awareness about organ and tissue donation.
