  • On 23rd June 2022, an awareness session on Organ Donation was held at Milliennium park Anna Nagar West.  Ms. S. Divya Shanthi and Ms. Sweetlyn Vashnee Geils, Interns of Madras Medical Mission’s College of Health Sciences and Organ Donation Ambassadors conducted the awareness programme. The audience were 20 men women and children yoga practitioners and their instructor Mr. Arumugam under the  Greater Chennai Corporation’s free yoga training initiative.

Ms. Sweetlyn distributed the information pamphlets and green ribbons to the gathering. Ms. Divya Shanthi gave a talk on organ donation, types of donation, which organs can be donated, what is brain death, Transplantation of Human Organs Act 1994, and how to pledge for organ donation. There was a lot of interaction after the talk.  Some of the doubts asked by the audience:

    1. Whether diabetic patients can donate organs?

    2. Is it compulsory to get the consent of the family members for donating our organs?

    3. Who cannot donate organs?

    4. What if my family members refused to donate my organs after death even though I'm interested in it?

3 people picked the donor card.  MOHAN Foundation thanks Mr Arumugan for allowing the interns to conduct the awareness talk under his care.
