A decision in time saves nine – talk on organ donation for girls learning tailoring

  • To commemorate International Women’s Day MOHAN Foundation plans to spread awareness among the women’s group on Organ Donation and Transplantation the entire month of March. Women are a powerful medium for spreading the information in the community so MOHAN Foundation started their first talk on the importance of organ donation and transplantation with the students of the Maharani Vidyawati Devi I.T.C for women. The event was organised by Mrs. Nirmal Bhasin- in charge of the tailoring unit under the Punjab Association.

    The talk was held on 2nd March 2016, at the tailoring unit in the Gill Adarsh School campus.  Dr. Hemal Kanvinde Quality Assurance Manager and MS.Sunitha Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation Chennai, participated in the event. It was a pleasure to interact with group of women on the concepts of organ donation.

    The Dr. Hemal Kanvinde started the session with an introduction about MOHAN foundation. Ms.Sunitha explained the concept of organ donation during her talk and  covered the following points:

    • What is organ donation?
    • Who can donate?
    • Types of donation
    • Brain death
    • Eye donation
    • Myths on organ donation
    • MOHAN Foundation Activities

    27 young participants eagerly listened to the talk and discussed about cornea and kidney donation. 20 girls picked the donor card. Ms. M. B. Muktharunissa, principal of the unit thanked MOHAN Foundation for their talk.
