430th training Batch of Mumbai Traffic Police sensitized about Green Corridor and Organ Donation

  • On 4th January 2020, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mumbai Traffic Police for sensitization to trainees of Police officials joining Mumbai Traffic Police about Green Corridor and Organ Donation. Head Constable Mr. Kadam introduced Dr. Jimmy to the trainees.

    Dr. Jimmy introduced MOHAN Foundation as an NGO working passionately for deceased organ donation over the past 21 years. She explained the difference between Cardiac Death & Brain Death in-depth. Then she elaborated about the organs & tissues that can be donated by both the cases. She elaborated the procedure about bone donation which was a new topic for the trainees. She explained ‘How organ allocation to the persons on the waiting list is transparent’. She also introduced the trainees to new advances in the program like Hand & Uterus transplant.

    Lastly she explained the importance of Green Corridor at the time when an organ must be transported after retrieval for transplant as it is very crucial that the organ should be transplanted on time otherwise it will get wasted.

    Mr. Nitin Tambe debunked myths around organ donation and explained the fact involved in the process of organ donation.
