Organ Donation Awareness at Whitefield during Kannada Rajyotsava Celebrations

  • Mrs. Ranjini Shankar MS received a call from Shri. Manjunath, President of Karnataka Sangha to conduct an awareness session in the Whitefield for the public during the Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations. He had earlier attended and also organised a few awareness sessions collaborating with MOHAN Foundation.

    At his request Mrs. Ranjini, Project Manager of MOHAN Foundation conducted an interactive session and set up an all-day help desk on 29th December 2021 at Whitefield. Around 60 members attended the session and even more participated in the celebrations by visiting the help desk.

    Mrs. Ranjini began the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation, its mission and vision; the concept of organ and tissue donation; types of death: cardiac death and brain death; brain death declaration; and procedure of deceased and living organ donation. Mrs. Ranjini then elaborated on the procedure of eye, skin, and bone donation; briefly explained the role of Jeevasarthakathe; touched upon the transplant law and the importance of a donor card. Myths, facts, and barriers to organ donation were highlighted as well.

    Shri. Manjunath, who was impressed by the work of the Foundation, expressed his wish to conduct more events in future in collaboration with MOHAN Foundation.

    Around 25 people signed up as organ donors during the event. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to Shri. Manjunath for the opportunity.
