  • On February 28, 2026 – A highly impactful organ donation awareness session was successfully conducted at Zilla Parishad High School, Naganpally, adopted by the Ramoji Foundation. The initiative was led by Project Manager Mr. Venkatesh Kattela under the aegis of MOHAN Foundation, with the objective of strengthening awareness about organ donation among school students.

The programme was organized as part of National Science Day, observed annually on February 28 to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by C. V. Raman in 1928. On this special occasion, the school hosted a science fair where students showcased innovative working models and detailed organ diagrams at the entrance, creating a vibrant and intellectually stimulating academic environment.

Two PowerPoint-based awareness sessions were conducted for students of Grades 5 and 10, reaching more than 270 students and faculty members. The sessions were informative, interactive, and well appreciated by both students and staff.

The session comprehensively covered the following key topics:

    • Meaning and types of organ donation
    • Difference between brain death and cardiac arrest
    • Eye donation – process and importance
    • Organ donation after death vs. living donation
    • Legal provisions under the Transplantation of Human Organs Act (THOA), 1994
    • Importance of donor cards
    • Addressing myths and misconceptions

The students demonstrated remarkable curiosity and actively participated in discussions. They raised thoughtful questions, particularly about eye donation and whether it is possible to donate eyes while alive. These meaningful interactions made the sessions intellectually enriching and reflected the students’ growing awareness and understanding of the subject.

The enthusiastic involvement of students and the strong support from the faculty greatly contributed to the success of the programme. The Principal also appreciated the sustained efforts and initiatives of MOHAN Foundation in promoting organ donation awareness among young minds. Notably, 12 participants formally pledged their organs.

This successful awareness initiative on National Science Day highlights the powerful connection between science, social responsibility, and life-saving humanitarian action.
