Human Rights and the Gift of Life: Awareness Session at Tyagaraya Gana Sabha

  • On December 10, 2025 - The MOHAN Foundation marked International Human Rights Day by successfully conducting a major organ donation awareness program at the Tyagaraya Gana Sabha in Chikkadpally, Hyderabad.

    The event, led by Project Manager Mr. Venkatesh Kattela, involved setting up an informative organ donation stall that was operational from morning to evening, ensuring maximum public engagement. The program saw an impressive turnout, with over 400 members in attendance.

    The formal awareness session was conducted by Dr. Bhanu Prakash from the MOHAN Foundation. The session effectively created awareness about the importance of organ donation and transplantation and was attended by close to 400 participants. A key focus was providing clear answers to the attendees' queries regarding the organ donation process. The engagement centered on covering critical aspects of organ donation:

    • The definition and various types of organ donation.
    • The essential distinction between brain death and cardiac arrest.
    • The significance of carrying a donor card.
    • The procedural aspects of the consent process.
    • Common myths and misconceptions surrounding organ donation.
    • The pressing societal need for organ donation.

    The highlight of the event was the presence of Chief Guest Prof. Kodanda Ram, a distinguished public figure. Prof. Ram demonstrated his commitment to the cause by formally pledging his organs, providing a powerful endorsement for the large audience.

    The successful engagement of over 400 individuals on International Human Rights Day underscored the connection between personal liberty, civic responsibility, and the humanitarian act of organ donation.
