Good Friday with a Good Cause

  • Good Friday is observed primarily by Christians commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ  at Calvary. On this occasion SAYA (St. Antony’s Youth Association) organized Blood Donation and Organ Donation camp.Mr. Martin, president of SAYA approached Cadaver Transplant  Programme (CTP), Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH), to give a talk on organ donation on March 28, 2013 and to put up an information stall on March 29, 2013 at St. Antony’s Shrine, Avadi, Chennai.

     

    Ms. Kavitha, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation gave a brief talk on Organ Donation at the end of the holy mass on Maundy Thursday (March 28). On  Good Friday an information stall was placed and was manned by Mr. Paul, State Project Manager, CTP, RGGGH and Ms. Kavitha.

    The concept of organ donation was explained to the public by one to one interaction. During the interaction the following topics were covered:

    1. Who can donate?
    2. Brain death and Coma
    3. Concept of Organ Donation
    4. Importance of Brain death
    5. Organ Sharing

     

     

    During the interaction few queries were raised like:

    1. Whom to be contacted?

    2. How to convince my parents for organ donation?

    3. Whether my child can pledge for Donor card?

     

    Queries were answered and nearly 60 followers of Jesus Christ showed their support to the noble cause on this Holy day.
