Awareness Session on Organ Donation Conducted at the JNIMS OPD

  • On December 8, 2025, MOHAN Foundation in collaboration with Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat, Imphal East, Manipur, conducted an awareness session at the General Out Patient Department (OPD). Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, Program Executive, conducted the session along with Mr. Victor Rajkumar, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation.

     

    The session was coordinated by Mr. Gailian Kamei, Transplant Coordinator, JNIMS, as a part of public education initiatives.

     

    Ms. Priya opened the session with an introduction to the foundation and its mission. Addressing the participants, she explained the concept of organ donation and emphasized the profound, life-changing impact it can have. She also explained the difference between living and deceased donation, additionally, describing the limitation pertaining to living donation. She highlighted the current donor crisis in the country and the region. In the course of the session, she informed the participants that the buying and selling of organs is strictly prohibited.

     

    Further, she addressed the participants to support deceased organ donation since it is an altruistic act and has the power to save lives of many.

     

    Pamphlets containing detailed information on organ donation were distributed to the participants to facilitate better understanding. Close to 20 participants attended the session.
