

On 3rd December 2024, a street in Tiruvallur, became a place to gain information on organ donation. Organ Donation Ambassador Ms. Evanglin organized a community event to create awareness on organ donation. The aim of this initiative was to educate the public about the importance of organ donation, the process of transplantation and how individuals can contribute to saving lives through donation.
Ms. Evanglin Gifta (Intern from MMM College of Allied Health Sciences) & Ms. Arshiya Fathima (MOHAN Foundation) were the resource persons. Ms. Evanglin distributed information brochures to the people in the street.
Ms Arshiya spoke to the communityabout:
• Process of organ donation
• Types of organ donation
• What is Brain-death, cardiac death and coma
• Myths and facts on organ donation
• Contraindication to donation
• How to pledge and get a donor card
Special emphasis was placed on the 24/7 helpline number, which provides support and clarifies any doubts regarding organ donation and transplantation. Around 15 people participated in the session. Overall, the event was a success, as it not only increased awareness about organ donation but also motivated many individuals to take action and contribute to the cause.
