A two day Organ Donation Awareness drive for students of a Community College

  •  On 9th and 10th of January, 2015 MOHAN Foundation was invited by Gandhi Community College to conduct an Organ Donation Awareness drive for their students.  Kavitha S and Sunitha AT conducted the programs on behalf of MOHAN Foundation. Mr Nandagopal, Principal Gandhi Community College took the initiative to  expose his students to a new concept.  


    Gandhi Community College offers courses like Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) and Diploma in Nursing Assistant. They have branches in Thiruvallur and Kancheepuram. MOHAN Foundation was requested to address both their branches.  The students are 10th and 12th standard pass as well as fail children. 


    Organ Donation Awareness talk was conducted at Thiruvallur on 09.01.2015, Nearly 120 students attended the session and on 10.01.2015 session was organized at Kancheepuram, where 90 students attended.


    Apart from the talk on concepts of organ donation, the students were shown a short film on organ donation. They also participated in a slogan writing competition and a quiz. The students enjoyed the sessions. After the session Organ Donation informative brochures were given to all the students. The students promised to pledge the donor cards with their parents’ permission.  Mr. Nandakumar was delighted with the response of the students and asked MOHAN Foundation to prepare the students to become rural educators in their region.
