Kidney from Best Man for Bride-to-be

Leanne Kennedy, 30, is in dire need of a kidney transplant as she needs to undergo dialysis everyday.

Kidney disease has been like a sibling for most of her life and in 2007 she received a major blow, kidney failure. Ever since, she needs dialysis everyday to survive.

On the waiting list for kidney transplant and not having found any luck, she brushed the attempts of Stuart Kilgannon , the best man for her wedding in September, to take a test to determine his potential as a kidney donor.

As luck and grace would have it, a perfect donor match was found in Stuart Kilgannon and the transplant surgery is now planned for January 2012 .

Leanne said: "I don't think Stuart realized that someone who is alive could donate a kidney. He knew I was poorly but not how poorly because I don't advertise it. When he realized, he offered to be tested straight away. I will be eternally grateful. I will be able to get on with my life and plan a family. I’m one of the lucky ones. Some people have been on the waiting list for 10 years."
