Webinar on Organ Donation conducted for Nagpur Municipal Corporation workers

  • On 6th May 2021, MOHAN Foundation in association with Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation conducted an Awareness Webinar on Organ Donation for NMC (Nagpur Municipal Corporation) workers Mr Tiwase organized this webinar through zoom.

    Ms Prarthana Dwivedi began the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision and activities to the participants. She explained concepts of organ donation and which organ can be donated, types of donation, living donation, cadaver donation. She also explained the process of donation and transplantation statistics over the years and debunked common myths associated with organ donation.

    The organs and tissues that can be donated while living and after a person dies of circulatory death were listed out. She then focused on brain stem death and listed out the organs and tissues that could be donated. She also spoke about how time was critical in transplanting organs from deceased donors.

    The following are a few questions that were asked:

    • What is the difference between coma and brain death?
    • Whom to contact for eye donation?
    • What is the time duration for organ donation after death?

    Around 40 workers attended the session and few pledged online to become Organ Donors. MOHAN Foundation appreciates the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s initiative and is thankful for the opportunity.
