Signature Campaign for Organ Donation at Anna University

  • The student council body of Anna University organized a signature campaign for Organ Donation as a part of their outreach programme on 5th September 2012 at Raman auditorium.

     

    Ms. Jessi was invited by the team to deliver a talk on Organ donation and to participate in the signature campaign. Dr. P. Kaliraj, Vice Chancellor, Anna University and Dr. S. Sivanesan, Dean, Alagappa College of Technology, Anna University presided over the function. More than 200 students from various streams actively participated in the programme.

     

    A short film emphasizing the need and importance of organ donation and transplant prepared by the students was screened. Ms.Jessi also screened a short film explaining the concept of brain death.  

     

    The concept of brain death, myths and religious issues on organ donation, age and criteria for donation were discussed during the talk. There was an interactive session at the end of the talk, where a wide range of doubts on organ donation were clarified. Few of them were,

     

    1. How long does an organ donation procedure take?
    2. What are the legal formalities involved in the procedure?
    3. What is the importance of carrying “Donor Card”?

     

    At the end of the session, both the staff and the student fraternity of Anna University pledged for a Donor Card.
