Organ donation awareness talk for students of SIGA Polytechnic College

  • The Inner Wheel club of Madras Esplanade and MOHAN Foundation jointly organised an awareness program on organ donation talk for students of Salesian Institute of Graphic Arts (SIGA) polytechnic college. This was held on 24th November 2016 in the seminar hall and 250 students   and 20 members of the Inner Wheel Club attended the program.

    The meeting started with a welcome by Ms. Stella Matthew.  The projects of the Inner Wheel of Madras Esplanade, was explained by President Dr. Anuradha.  Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Q&A Officer of MOHAN Foundation spoke of the genesis of the program and the activities of the foundation and the need for organs.  This was followed by a Concept talk by Dr Arul Raj, of Stanley Medical College Hospital.  He spoke of brain death, the need to be safe and the organs that can be donated.  He put in stories and questions to make the topic interesting to the students.  Two members of the club read out poems on organ donation.

    After his talk, Ms. Seema Bhargava, EC member of International Inner Wheel gave her comments and asked the students to make the most of the education and extra- curricular activities planned by the academy and become responsible citizens.

    The Principal Fr. Charles Gaspar thanked the organisers for giving the students information about the noble cause.  27 students and members of the Inner Wheel of Madras Esplanade picked a donor card and  pledged to donate their organs.
