Organ donation awareness talk conducted for MSW students at Sassoon Hospital, Pune

  On 12^th February, 2022, organ donation and transplantation session was conducted by Mr. Jagdish at Social Service Superintendent office, Sassoon Hospital, Pune.

  The session was conducted for MSW students who were doing their internship at Sassoon Hospital. The main aim of this session was to introduce the concept of organ donation and its importance in India and to sensitize them about organ donation so that they can create awareness about organ donation to the general public.

  Mr. Jagdish introduced MOHAN Foundation and its role in organ donation and it's activities.

  He then discussed the following topics about organ donation

  1. Concept of organ donation and its types
  2. Concept of Brain death
  3. Types of death- Brain death, Circulatory death.
  4. Organs and tissues donated after brain death and circulatory death
  5. Why organ donation is important in India?
  6. Transplantation of Human organ act 1994, ammendment 2011 and Transplantation of Human Organ and Tissue Act and its rules- 2014 was discussed.
  7. He gave information about the organ retrieval centers of Pune.
  8. Information about ZTCC and its role in organ allocation was explained briefly
  9.  Information about grief counseling and its stages was explained in detail with examples.

   

   5 participants participated in the session, all 5 of them took pledge to donate their organs.
