  • On October 5, 2019, MOHAN Foundation was invited to conduct a talk on organ donation for the employees of Sugam Group, Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Ms. Arti Sharma Executive Assistant to Director, Sugam Group coordinated the process of organising the talk and Dr. Muneet Kaur Sahi was the resource person for the talk.

Sugam (literally translated as "Easy to reach") has origins in one of the first transportation companies that came into existence in the Indian Subcontinent in the 1950's when shipments were delivered via a combination of boats, ropeways, steam rails & trucks. Since then, Sugam has evolved into a multinational group with over 200 offices and 1000 people giving single window multi-modal logistics solutions across the world via road, railways, seaways & air.

Dr. Muneet began the session by showing a video on organ donation titled 'thank you' by Vijay. The concept of the film 'death is not the end' evoked a positive response and created an immediate emotional connect with the audience. Participants shared their views on organ donation after watching the film and this set the tone for the talk as everyone present realised the reality of organ shortage in the country and how it could affect any one of them directly and also that each one of them could contribute in one way or the other.

Dr. Muneet then explained the basic concepts of organ donation and transplantation with the help of a simple easily comprehensible powerpoint presentation. When speaking on the subject of brain death, a short video was shown for better understanding and clarity.

Participants asked a lot of questions post the presentation and there was a vibrant discussion.

At the end, a feedback form was distributed by the organisers to assess the quality of the talk. Arti said quote unquote," ma'am all the participants gave more than 5 (5 being the maximum) rating to the talk. They found the session very informative and especially the content, which was delivered in an easily comprehensible manner. All of them praised you for the patience exhibited by you when answering their queries and the entire office was discussing the session till office closing time. Many of them said that they would discuss it with their families at home."

Close to 50 participants attended the talk and en equal number of donor cards were picked up.
