Organ donation awareness program conducted at Swyamdeep Buddha Vihar, Nagpur

  • On 14th April 2022, MOHAN Foundation in association with Transplants – Help the Poor Foundation was invited to conduct an awareness program on organ donation at Swyamdeep Buddha Vihar, on occasion of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s 131st birth day. Along with this, the members of the organization hoisted the national flag and organised an honor program for senior citizens. Totally 122 members participated in the session.

    Ms. Prarthana addressed the gathering by sharing about MOHAN Foundation and its activities. She then asked the participants to share their opinion about organ donation.

    Thereafter, she touched upon the below topics about organ donation:

    1. Concept of body donation and its procedure.
    2. Types of death.
      1. Brain death
      2. Cardiac death
    3. Tissue donation and its process
    4. Procedure of eye donation.
    5. How to pledge your organs.

     

    The session was highly interactive; the participants expressed their views and opinion and raised certain questions, which were as follows:

     

    • Within what duration of time the corneas should be donated?
    • What is the process of body donation?

     

    The session inspired and motivated 79 participants to pledge their organs. The participants and organizers appreciated Ms. Prarthana for her noble work on organ donation.
