On 7th August 2023, organ donation awareness talk was organised by Mr. Jagdish Borude, transplant coordinator, MOHAN foundation at Command Hospital,Pune. The talk was coordinated Dr Atul Shrivastava, Nephrologist, Command Hospital.The talk was organised on the occasion of 13th National organ donation Day.
The main aim of this talk was to spread awareness and sensitise patients from Army and Doctors of command Hospital,about organ donation . Mr. Jagdish did introduction of MOHAN foundation and its role in organ donation and it's activities. Mr Jagdish then elaborated what is organ donation and body donation and basic concepts in organ donation. Around 300 participants attended the session.
following topics were discussed on organ and body donation during interaction:
· Concept of organ donation and tissue donation
· Concept and definition of Brain death
· Types of death- Brain death and cardiac death
· Organs and tissues donated after brain death and circulatory death
· Why organ donation is important in India?
· How one can save lives of 8 people
· Body donation and its importance.
· Ischemic time of each organ and tissue
· THOTA act 1994 and its importance.
