Organ Donation Talk for the Chennai South Zone Police organised by Avadi PRS

  • On 6th July 2015 MOHAN Foundation was invited to conduct a talk on Role of Investigating Officer in Brain Death and Organ Donation. The training was attended by SHOs and Inspectors of police station within Chennai South Zone under the Avadi Police Recruitment School (PRS).  The aim of the programme was to make them understand the concept of organ donation and their role in the case of multi organ donation.

    Ms. A. T. Sunitha Transplant Coordinator MOHAN Foundation explained the Concept of Organ Donation, The Transplantation of Human Organs Act, difference between Cardiac death, Brain Death and Coma, Case Studies, Protocol followed during a MLC Organ Donation and Case discussion in Government Hospital. 

    Totally 33 Police officials attended the talk and all were ready to help out when they get a call about inquest for organ donation case. Finally Ms. Sunitha thanked the Police Officers for the support and cooperation.

    1. What kind of Help/follow up is done by the hospitals to the donor family?
    2. Are private hospitals charging the patient for the cadaver organs?
    3. Who is in charge of organ allocation?
    4. Why Government is not taking prevent measures to control kidney failure?
    5. What is the cause for kidney failure?
