On 1st September 2019, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mrs Rakhee Sunil from Rotary Club of Borivali East and Mr Rajesh Modi from Bombay Catholic Sabha for giving awareness about the Organ Donation.
Dr. Jimmy introduced MOHAN Foundation as an NGO working passionately to promote deceased organ donation for the past 22 years. She explained the difference between cardiac death and brain death in detail. She then briefed about the organs and tissues that can be donated in both cases. She elaborated on the procedure for bone donation. She also explained the organ allocation process for the patients on waiting list. She introduced new advances like hand and uterus transplant to the audience.
She then addressed the myths about organ donation the public has debunked them by illustrating the real facts about organ donation. Thereafter, she shared with the audience how they could take the pledge and the importance of sharing the wish with their loved ones as well. She lastly showed a few heart touching videos about organ donation to the gathering. About 60 people attended the awareness session and a few pledges were filled online.
The Pastor of the church appreciated the session and was supportive of the cause of organ donation. Dr Girish Trivedi (AIDS Combat International) and Mrs Sangita Panda (National Burns Centre) elaborated on the process of eye donation and skin donation respectively.
