MOHAN Foundation conducts a talk on Organ Donation for members of Rotary Club of Madras Porur

  MOHAN Foundation was invited for an awareness talk on organ donation by the Rotary Club of Madras Porur. The talk was held at Hotel Mayura International, Vadapalani, Chennai on 16^th August 2018 at 7 PM. Rtn. C. Uthayakumar, President invited Mr. T. S. Siva Shankar for the session.

  The session was attended by 10 members including Rtn. C. Uthayakumar, President and Rtn. V. Sasiraman, Secretary of Rotary Club of Madras Porur.

  Before the start of the session Rtn. C. Uthayakumar invited Mr. T. S Siva Shankar to the dais and Rtn. Raja introduced him to the audience. After the introduction speech Mr. Siva Shankar started the session with explaining the needs of Organ Donation in our society and what is role of MOHAN Foundation in Organ Donation.

  He gave brief explanation on the following:

  1. Organ Donation and the organs that can be donated.
  2. Government authority who plays a major role in allocation of organs and the Transplant law which is governed by Indian government on Organ Donation
  3. Organ donation at the stage of Living, Cardiac Death and Brain Death
  4. Brain death and its causes
  5. Myths on Organ Donation
  6. Donor Card and Helpline Number on organ Donation

  The session went on for one hour and there were some questions that were asked:

  1. Do the organs go to the correct person when a donor is donating after death?
  2. If a recipient has donor from the family itself do he/she still needs to register in the waitlist?
  3. If the donor doesn’t have anyone in his family, will the organs be donated?

  The session went on for 1 hour everyone took their donor cards to support organ donation. Rtn. Venkatram, Past President, Rotary Club of Madras Porur appreciated Mr. Siva Shankar for his speech on Organ Donation in this young age. Rtn. Ramya gave the vote of thanks thanking MOHAN Foundation and Rotary Club of Madras Porur for initiating this program.
