Celebration with a Good Cause..

  • On their Annual Day celebration, AON Hewiit approached Cadaver Transplant Programme to give  an awareness talk on  Organ Donation to their employee on 06.06.2013. The session was held in the cafeteria. Mr. Paul Raj, Transplant Coordinator, National Network of Organ Sharing and Ms. Kavitha, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation represented  Cadaver Transplant Programme,  along with two volunteers.

     

    There were three session in different floors. The session started with introduction to Organ Donation by Mr. Paul Raj. Ms. Kavitha spoke on Concepts of Organ donation. During the session following topics were covered.

    1. Legal isssues in Organ Donation
    2. Types of Donors
    3. Difference between  Brain Death and Coma
    4. Function of Brain Stem
    5. Organs can be donated
    6. Organ preservation and transplantation
    7. Eye Donation
    8. Tamilnadu Network of Organ Sharing
    9. Activities of MOHAN Foundation
    10. Information was given on MOHAN foundation website, face book  and toll free  helpline number

     

    Nearly 100 staff attended the session and all were moved by the donor story. At the end of the session Mr. Balaji, HRM, AON Hewitt recited a poem on Organ Donation. Following that the staff came up with  many queries like:

    1. How authentic is Organ Donation?
    2. How long it will take to return the body after Organ Donation?
    3. Why do we need pledge with a  donor card now?
    4. Why can’t you reduce the apoenea hours, so that we can get the body soon?

    Queries were answered and 89 of them showed their support by signing the Donor card.
