Talk On Organ Donation At National Academy Of Direct Taxes, Nagpur

  • Dr. Ravi Wankhede, Head of MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur Centre was invited on 27th February 2015 at the prestigious The National Academy of Direct Taxes at Nagpur to talk on organ donation as part of social awareness amongst officer trainees. NADT is the apex training institution of the Officers and Staff of the Direct Taxes Administration in India which includes Officers from Indian Revenue Service IRS working in the Government of India.

     

    At the outset Mr. Gunjan Mishra the Additional Director General II, spoke about the social responsibility of trainee officers which included organ donation. He welcomed Dr. Wankhede with a floral bouquet. Ms. Shrishti Chaudhry introduced Dr. Wankhede to the audience.

     

    Dr. Ravi Wankhede than gave a PowerPoint Presentation on the types of Organ and tissue donation allowed under the Transplant Act of the country. He said in spite of the Act passed over 21 years ago, millions in our country lost their lives as they could not get a life saving organ. He stressed the need to donate organs and tissues prior to cremation or burying the body. He explained ‘Brain death’ from which over life saving organs could be harvested as also several tissues like a pair of eyes and skin could be donated. He said trainee officers could help and spread the knowledge in various parts of the country wherever they would be serving as part of social responsibility.
