Donor Memorial

  • Mrs. Sudha  Subramanian - 56 Years

Mrs Sudha Subramanian was diagnosed with a malignant "high-grade glioma" in the brain stem on September 26, 2022. The tumour was already at stage 4, and the doctors had given it a life expectancy of 6 months. One month of radiation and seven cycles of chemotherapy rendered her so frail that she was confined to bed for six months.

On the fateful night of July 9, 2023, she was admitted to the Renova Soumya Cancer Institute for palliative care after her platelet count and potassium levels plummeted. On the same night, she vomited, and her blood pressure dropped drastically. Unfortunately, the blood pressure never returned to normal levels. She died around 2:45 p.m. on July 10, 2023, after suffering a cardiac arrest in the afternoon.

Srividya S, the daughter of the patient, is a Project Manager at the MOHAN Foundation's office in Hyderabad. She expressed her desire to donate her mother's corneas if the Glioma was not a contraindication. The physician gave permission for the eye donation.

Dr. Bhanu Chandra, Operations Manager at the Hyderabad office of the MOHAN Foundation was informed of the daughters desire to donate her mothers eyes. He then coordinated with Vasan Eye Bank for the retrieval of the corneas thus, giving the gift of vision to two people.

Srividya recognized the profound significance of this donation, not only in restoring sight to two individuals but also in exemplifying the essence of the cause she passionately worked for. She selflessly chose to honor her mother's memory by giving the gift of vision to two people in need. Though the pain of losing a loved one never truly fades, knowing that her mother's legacy lives on through the restored vision of others brought a sense of solace to Srividya's heart.

MOHAN Foundation salutes her for her noble gesture.
