Walkathon at Elliots beach to promote Organ Donation

  • Agam is a student friendly, student-run organization, working to build a community of future physicians for the betterment of society. It, is committed to connect the fellow medicos beyond the curriculum and it provides an expansive platform for learning, interacting, inspiring and enriching ourselves in the process of becoming the pillars of the future health care system.

    In the afternoon of August 20, 2023, Agam Foundation organized a walkathon at Elliot’s Beach.  MOHAN Foundation was invited to be a resource partner for the event. Over 36 medical students and young volunteers participated and made the event fruitful. Ms Arshiya Fathima, ensured that all the participants pin up green ribbons to show their support and Ms Kavitha Aneesh distributed the placards to the students.

    With the support of the Chennai Traffic Police, the volunteers marched along the beach holding awareness banners and placards and chanting slogans in Tamil to create awareness. The volunteers interviewed the evening walkers and asked about their opinion on organ donation and few volunteers distributed information brochures.

    At the conclusion of the walkathon Mr Dinesh, Agam Foundation addressed the gathering and thanked everyone for their support, Mr Ganesh C, Marketing Coordination, MOHAN Foundation, gave a talk on Organ Donation and explained the usage of Helpline number 1800 103 7100. Around 150 people came to know about organ donation through this event.

    MOHAN Foundation extends its warm gratitude to Ms. Deepshika and to Agam Foundation for organizing the event, and a special thanks to Tamilnadu Police Department for their support in carrying out the event in a peaceful manner.
