Serene Senior Care supports Organ Donation for its Senior Citizens in Mannivakkam

  • Serene Senior Care a private company that caters to the needs of senior citizens invited MOHAN Foundation second time for an awareness program in Serene Adinath, Mannivakkam on 27th January 2017 at 11 AM.

    Mr. Siva Shankar, Helpline executive of MOHAN Foundation started the session with a video about the overall history of Organ Donation to make the people think about the topic. After that he started the Concepts of Organ Donation with a presentation. He explained the following in detail:

    1. Who can donate?
    2. Natural Death, brain death and coma.
    3. The organs that can be donated at each stage.
    4. MOHAN Foundation and its activity.
    5. Importance of donor card.
    6. TRANSTAN (Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu)

    The 1-hour session was attended by 25 residents and 9 of them signed and took up their donor cards. All the residents were above the age of 50. They were very interested in the talk and there were lively discussions. Some of the questions that they asked were:

    1. Can we donate organs and then donate our body?
    2. What can we do for Body Donation?
    3. Does money play a major role in allocating the organs?
    4. If a politician is in need of organ will he get it first?
    5. Will my organs go to the needy, how is allocation done?
