Sensitization Programme on organ donation conducted at Kohinoor Technical Institute, Aurangabad

  • On 28th July 2022, MOHAN Foundation in association with Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation conducted an awareness session on Organ Donation for the teaching staff and IT students of Kohinoor Technical Institute, Aurangabad. Dr. Padmakar Suryawanshi, Director of this college was instrumental in conducting this session.

    Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi was the key resource. She began the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation and its activities

    Topic discussed in the session were as follows:

    1. Requirement of Organ donation in India.
    2. Concept of organ donation and its types
    3. Which organs and tissues can be donated after brain death and circulatory death?
    4. Difference between brain death and circulatory death
    5. Concept of Brain Steam death
    6. Donor card and its importance was explained in detail
    7. MOHAN Foundation helpline number was displayed.

     

    She then shared information on the ways the audience could get involved and support organ donation. She encouraged and appealed to each one of them to become ambassadors of organ donation.

    Questions asked by the participants were as follows:

    1. What is THOA Act?
    2. How skin can be donated?
    3. Can a person suffering from asthma donate his organs?

     

     The session was inspiring and motivated 97 participants to pledge their organs. 76 members participated in this session. We thank Dr. Padmakar Suryawanshi for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
