Sensitisation talk on organ donation at PIMS, Pondicherry

  • On 11th September, 2013 a sensitisation talk on organ donation was organised for the nurses from the Gastroenterology Ward, Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Pondicherry. Mr. Ananth R, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai conducted the session.

     

    There were four nurses who participated in the session. Hence, the information was dispersed through a one on one interaction with them. Mr. Ananth in his interaction with them focused on increasing their awareness about the issue and largely focused on grief counselling.  Some of the issues that were discussed during the interaction were: Legal issues in organ donation, difference between brain death and coma, the organs that can be donated, about eye donation, the responsibilities of nurses during organ donation and about the MOHAN Foundation helpline. 

     

    All the four participants promised to support the cause by signing the donor card.
