Youngest organ donor of the state

IN LIFE WE LOVED YOU SO DEARLY

IN DEATH WE LOVE YOU STILL, ADITYA

Master Aditya Kaushik was admitted at CARE Hospitals, Nampally on 7th May'04. He slipped off from the terrace of his house while plucking flowers.

On the morning of 9th May 2004, we were informed by Mrs. Mamatha (Transplant coordinator) of CARE Nampally about brain death case in their ICU. Aditya was admitted there on 7th May and was operated the same day. He started progressing towards brain death a few hours later. The first declaration was given on the morning of 8th May at 10.45AM. The second declaration was given at 10.15AM on 9th May'04. Soon after this Mrs. Lalitha Raghuram explained the status of Aditya very clearly to his father and uncle. Eventually they were also informed about MOHAN Foundation and its activities. They had fairly good idea about the importance of organ donation but they wanted to consult the mother also before giving final consent. Since the mother was in a stage of great shock and was feeling giddy we thought we should give her some more time to accept the death. We met the parents in the afternoon at around 3PM when Lalitha Raghuram counseled the mother. After some time they gave their consent for donation.

Aditya was wheeled into the operation theatre at 7.30PM. The heart was retrieved first. The retrieval was over by 11.45PM. The kidneys and liver were perfused and packed in the preserving solution along with ice. The Technician from Ramayamma International Eye Bank at LV Prasad Eye Institute retrieved the corneas. Global Hospitals used the Liver and kidneys while Heart was used by CARE Hospitals
