Organ Donor Week - Medanta–the Medicity

  • August 8th to 14th was observed at Medanta – the Medicity as an Organ Donor Week to increase awareness on organ donation and to carry out focused activities to boost the program.

     

    As part of external promotion a hoarding showing a famous celebrity (Raveena Tandon) pledging her organs was put up at the entrance of the hospital. Screen savers and mailers were given as part of promotion within the hospital. Standees and long posters giving information on organ donation were placed at strategic points in the main foyer to attract maximum attention from visitors. Films with celebrities pledging their organs and vital information on organ donation was played on the TV monitors placed in the upper ground floor of Medanta.

     

    An awareness cum information kiosk was set up in the main lobby of Medanta- The Medicity which has a  footfall of over 500 people every day.Waiting family membersof patients and other visitors to the hospital were given Information organ donation. Many people waiting at the lobby enquired about the process of signing up as an Organ Donor and other legal aspects of the same. Donor cards and information leaflets were distributed to increase their understanding on the subject.

     

    To increase awareness amongst the hospital staff two sessions on organ donation were organised on Aug 13 & 14, 2012. The presentation was attended by employees from HR, administration, finance, housekeeping, food and beverage, security, clinical research, quality control, supplies and billing departments. The talk was very well received by the staff with good inputs and queries all duly answered.77 employees attended these sessions and 17 people pledged their organs.

     

    There has been a steep increase in the number of general enquiries received by the Delhi office in the last week, after the awareness drive at Medanta.
