On January 3, 2013 a talk on "Organ Donation & Transplantation" was given to the staff of Pushpanjali Crosslay Hospital,Ghaziabad. The hospital organizes an "open session" once a month to discuss in house issues/problems and a presentation/talk on a health related topic by the hospital staff or a guest speaker. For the current months session, MOHAN Foundation was invited to sensitize the staff on organ donation.
The talk centered on the concepts related to organ donation namely brain death, establishing brain death diagnosis, legal aspects of transplantation (THO act) and deceased organ donation protocol.The session was attended by doctors from various specialities, nurses, para medical staff and employees from different departments like laundry, security, IT and HR. In all there were 80 attendees.
Post the presentation Dr. Vijay Agarwal, Executive Director, Pushpanjali Crosslay Hospital thanked the MOHAN Foundation staff for the informative talk and opened the floor to questions. There were queries on how a hospital registers as a transplant hospital, steps to start a deceased organ donation program and who all constitute the team doing brain death certification.
At the end organ donor fliers," Gift of Life" were distributed amongst the staff.
