On April 12, 2024, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, an organ donation ambassador from the MOHAN Foundation, set up an organ donation information desk at the blood donation camp organised by SMRC’s V. M. Salgoacar Hospital in collaboration with Caring Souls, the blood bank of Goa Medical College, and the MOHAN Foundation.
The camp ran from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The majority of the donors came from hospitals. Approximately 32 individuals attended the camp; 23 were eligible to donate, and 9 were rejected due to various reasons.
Mr. Gabriel displayed a brief animated presentation by Shweta Gupta on organ donation. He distributed approximately forty FAQs and spoke to the donors about organ donation, why we needed to come forward to pledge, and explained the various ways to pledge, but he told them most importantly that one has to inform their family or next-of-kin, as their consent is a must to proceed with organ donation.
