On 6th October 2021 MOHAN Foundation in association with Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation conducted an awareness talk on Organ Donation for Senior citizens of Old Age Home at Matru Seva Sangha Panchvati Vriddh Ashram, Nagpur. The session was conducted with help of Ms. Meena Ben who were the in-charge of Old Age Home.
Ms. Prarthana introduced MOHAN Foundation and spoke about its philanthropy. She asked about the organ donation to the gathering so as all were non-medicos they were totally blank and had no idea about the organ donation as they knew about eye donation only.
Ms. Prarthana explained the concepts of Organ Donation, why and when is organ transplant operation required. She also explained various organs that can be donated, types of donors, types of death, viability of organs after retrieval. She then explained the difference between Brain death and Cardiac Death. She also elaborated the Transplantation of Human Organs Act, and discussed about the myths and misconceptions related to organ donation. She also briefed about Skin donation, Eye donation, Organ donation and Body donation.

Ms. Prarthana answered all the queries promptly. About 15 members took Pledge and few were filed online. The session which began around 4:30 pm was attended by 64 participants. We thank Meena ben for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
