Organ Donation Awareness for LIC Agents in Bangalore

  • Mr. Hemanth, a LIC Agent of the Banashankari branch in Bengaluru, invited MOHAN Foundation to conduct an awareness session for his colleagues from the Banashankari branch on 15th July 2021. Around 25 agents attended the virtual session at 3:30pm in the afternoon. MOHAN Foundation was represented by Mr. Marulappa LN (Transplant Coordinator) and Mrs. Ranjini Shankar MS (Project Manager, Bengaluru).

    Mr. Marulappa began the session with an introduction of MOHAN Foundation and then explained in detail about brain stem death and circulatory death. He also explained the role of Jeevasarthakathe, transplant law and spoke about the need for donation and the importance of donor card.

    During the interaction, the audience raised the following questions:

    • Does my age/fitness level disqualify me from being a donor?
    • Distribution of the organs
    • Can diabetic patients be donors?
    • Can COVID-positive patients be donors?
