Organ Donation Awareness at a Housing Society in Nagpur

  Mr. Raja B. Kale, Secretary of the Suman Nagari Housing Society in Godhani Road, Nagpur, invited MOHAN Foundation for an awareness programme for the society members. Mr. Bulu Behera delivered a talk on the 17^th of March 2019.

  Mr. Behera gave an insight about the subject in a comprehensive manner. He stressed the importance of organ donation by both living donors as well as deceased donors. He explained the concept of brain death which could result in helping eight people get lifesaving organs. He explained through his talk, the importance of organ donation, its need, religious misconceptions around it and the social aspects.

  After the talk Mr. Behera interacted with the participants who raised the following queries.

  • What is whole body donation?
  • After natural death what is the time duration for eye donation?
  • Whom to contact for organ donation?

  Around 25 society members attended the session and 2 of them signed the consent form and received donor cards. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to Mr Kale for the opportunity
