On 16th March 2019, MOHAN Foundation Imphal conducted an awareness session at the Leirik Institute of Nursing, at Sangaiprou, Imphal. The one hour session saw around 28 students present.
Ms. Roma Devi, Transplant Co-ordinator from MOHAN Foundation, working at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal delivered the talk. She began with an introduction of the concepts of organ donation. She went on to explain the necessity and importance of organ donation, types of donors and the difference between brain death and cardiac death. Tissues and organs that could be donated in case of brain death and cardiac death and the importance of carrying donor cards were also discussed.
The programme ended with a long Q&A session with participants asking questions about organ donation and the organ donation registration process. All the students signed up as organ donors and received donor cards as well.
