St. John’s College of Education, Veeravanallur (Tirunelveli District) aims at producing socially inclined, morally, and ethically upright, professionally skilled and dedicated educators of tomorrow through the development of the fundamental values of life. An awareness program on understanding of Organ Donation was organized on March 7, 2023 for the B.Ed. Students and teaching faculty of St. John’s College of Education. 70 students and 5 teaching staff attended the session. Ms. Vijaya Lakshmi M , an Organ Donation Ambassador represented MOHAN Foundation.
Mrs. Devi M, Associate Professor of the college extended her support in assembling the students, distributing green ribbons & information pamphlets and ensured all the students & staff benefited from the session.
The session started with a short Inaugural Ceremony. Ms. Vijaya Lakshmi M (MMM College of Health Sciences - Intern) began the session with an introduction of MOHAN Foundation. This was followed with a talk on the concepts of Organ Donation and Transplantation which included who, what, when and how donation can happen. She explained brain death and about the Transplantation of Human Organs Act. In between the session Ms. Vijaya Lakshmi M played a video explaining brain stem death and a recipient testimonial video and explained about how to pledge organs. She was very interactive with students and did Q & A session. She spoke of the helpline service provided by MOHAN Foundation - 1800 103 7100.
