MOHAN Foundation talks about Organ Donation in Transplant Coordinator Training held by ROTTO-SOTTO at KEM Hospital, Mumbai

  • On 3rd April 2019, Mrs Jaya Jairam of MOHAN Foundation was invited as faculty for a session on Organ Donation & Transplant Organisations at Training Programme for Medical Social Workers and representatives of NTORCs and registered transplant centresheld by ROTTO-SOTTO at KEM Hospital.

    Mrs Jaya Jairam started the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision and philanthropy.She then explained about the State Based Organizations that coordinate and supervise entire range of transplant activities including live transplants, cadaver transplants and tissue transplants and help inStreamlining all procedures related to Cadaver and Living Organ Transplantation, helping hospitals identify brain stem death and maintain, distributing organs in a transparent manner, maintaining online waitlist registry, transmitting soft skills related to donor maintenance, helping hospitals in medical legal procedures, liaising with Police in providing Green Corridor for transporting organs, compile a state and regional database, liaising with neighbouring States in organ sharing, liaising with the Government of India on issues related to transplants.She also briefly enlightened about working of State Based Organizations like ORBO, ZTCC, ZCCK, KNOS, RNOS, Jeevandan and TRANSTAN.

    Secondly Mrs Jaya Jairam also focused on different NGO’s working in the field of on Organ Donation and their contribution in Deceased Donor Program of India. About 70 participants attended the session. We thank Dr. Astrid Lobo Gajiwala (Director of ROTTO-SOTTO, Mumbai), Sujata Ashtekar, Urmila Mahajan, Jaya Sakat, Swapnil Pawar and Kanwar Yadav (ROTTO-SOTTO team) for inviting us and giving us opportunity to take session atTraining Programme for Medical Social Workers and representatives of NTORCs and registered transplant centresheld at MLT Auditorium at KEM Hospital.
