MOHAN Foundation conducts public awareness session on organ donation for the residents of RWA, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi

  • On September 27th, 2014 MOHAN Foundation Delhi-NCR conducted an awareness session on organ donation for the residents of Resident Welfare Association, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. .

     

    The initiative for conducting the session was taken by Ms. Vaidehi Subramaniyam (Executive director- Akshay Pratishthan) and Ms. Indu Gahley, (President RWA- C9 Block, Vasant Kunj).

     

    The session covered key issues like organ donation, brain death, THO Act and myths and facts surrounding organ donation. The session was an interactive one wherein all the participants were actively involved. They asked questions and gave suggestions as to how to improve the dismal awareness scenario in our country. They also suggested that attempts should be made to involve the youth in advocating the cause as they are the change makers of the future.

     

     Ms. Deepa clearly explained the myths related to organ donation and stressed on the importance of a National Registry for donors. She also explained the concept of brain death in a very simple and easily comprehensible manner.

     

     The session was attended by 16 people and 25 donor cards were picked up.

For effective awareness a flow chart from registration to organ extraction from body to help family.
