MOHAN Foundation conducts Organ Donation Awareness session at Apollo School of Nursing, New Delhi

  • On 20th September 2014, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation for nursing students at Apollo School of Nursing, New Delhi.

     

    Apollo School of Nursing is a front runner medical education institute with 11 schools of nursing and 2 schools of hospital management and physiotherapy. It offers fellowships and diploma courses in various fields of healthcare like family medicine, emergency medicine, intensive care training programmes for doctors and paramedical personnel. Apollo School of Nursing brandishes a unique concept of an integrated health care skill impartment, training, education and research.

     

    The awareness session was conducted in the college hall where the students, staff as well as practicing doctors gathered and participated in the discussion. The session that lasted more than an hour made grounds on key issues like need for organ donation, organ donation rate, brain death and myths surrounding organ donation and also the role of a nurse in organ donation.

     

    Post session, there were numerous queries. Nurses asked intelligent and relevant questions, one of which included why isn’t there a nationalized organ donation registry which is a key agenda MOHAN Foundation is working towards.

     

    127 students and staff attended the talk and 49 donor cards were picked up.
