On 22nd November 2021, Dr. Bhanu Chandra, Senior Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation attended a donor’s condolence meet in Yadadri district, Telangana. The donor was declared brain dead on 13th November and the family members had consented for donation. The donor’s corneas, kidneys, liver and heart were donated.
The donor’s brother had attended the condolence meet of another organ donor from a nearby village whose organs were donated in February 2021 after counselling by Dr. Bhanu Chandra. This inspired him to motivate his family to consent for the donation of his brother’s organs.
Along with the Sarpanch and ZPTC, around 150 villagers attended the program and 50 people signed up as organ donors.
