MOHAN Foundation Conducts Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Red Cross - Punjab, Chandigarh Session - 324

  • On 17th May 2023, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the Secretary, Red Cross - Punjab, Chandigarh to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for their First Aid Students at Vivekanand Bhawan, Chandigarh.  Around 30 participants from various parts of Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh attended the program. The participants included college students, patient care attendants, home nursing, nannies and bus conductors.

     

    Ms. Neha Sharma addressed the audience explaining them how important is Organ Donation and it provides a great opportunity in everyone’s life to come ahead and pledge to donate their organs can save lives.

     

    Participants were given the presentation on Organ Donation, she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of organ donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She explained 5 myths on organ donation with their corresponding reality check
    • Difference between circulatory death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life story of an organ transplant patient was shared with the participants
    • Importance of the donor card
    • How to pledge or sign up for organ donation on MOHAN Foundation's website
    • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

     

    Audience were pleased and appreciated MOHAN Foundation work on Organ Donation in India and they have increased donation in the Chandigarh tricity.

     

    The entire audience got motivated and convinced to support Organ Donation. Audience did applaud in the end for the efforts taken by MOHAN Foundation. It was a great program and the audience would come forward to engage by motivating others. 25 donor cards being picked up by the participants.
