  • On 19th March 2019 MOHAN Foundation setup an information desk on organ donation at Sri Kanyaka Parameswari Art and Sciences College for Women. The information desk was set up at the college premises as part of a free mega medical camp organized by the Youth Red Cross (YRC) student members of the institution.

In addition to the organ donation desk, there were stalls for eye testing by Agrawal’s Hospital, dental check-up by Gupta Dental Care, blood donation camp by the Red Cross, ECG, BP testing etc. The camp was open to the public, students and faculty. This was the second of the bi-annual medical camps organized at the institution by the YRC members.

The camp started off by 10:00 AM. Information brochures, registration forms, donor cards and green ribbons were available at MOHAN Foundation’s desk. Around 120 students, 5 faculties and 2 doctors of National Hospital Chennai, visited the stall. Ms. Ishwarya from MOHAN Foundation, Mr. Albin Joseph and Ms. Sunisha S.S, Interns at the Foundation and students of MMM College of Health Sciences were present at the stall to respond to queries and accept pledges of the visitors.

The three took turns explaining the concepts of organ donation to the visitors. These interactions helped people clearly understand organ donation.

The following were a few questions answered:

    • How to register when in need of an organ?
    • Family’s involvement and consent in the donation process
    • Why is organ donation important?
    • Who can donate bone marrow?

88 students and 2 faculties from the college pledged their organs. 2 senior citizens Mrs. S N Gajalakshmi and Mr. Munirathnam also registered their names as organ donors and received donor cards.

MOHAN Foundation is thankful to Dr. T Mohanashree, Principal Dr. P B Vaneetha, Vice-Principal, Ms. P Niranjana, Faculty – Management Studies Dept. and the Youth Red Cross members of the college for providing the opportunity to spread the organ donation message.
