Field visit of students of Thiruthangal Nadar College, Chennai

  • The first-year students of Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) of Thiruthangal Nadar College visited MOHAN Foundation on Sept 6, 2022 as part of their exposure field visit. The event was organized by MOHAN Foundation at their training hall. 12 students and one staff attended the orientation session.

     

    Ms. Arshiya Fathima (Helpline Counselor & Education Executive) and Mr. Balaji (Intern, MMM College of Health Sciences) welcomed the students and staff and distributed green ribbons, information pamphlets. Mr. Ganesh (Marketing Coordinator), began the session with a video of heart transplant recipient sharing his experience and how transplantation gave him a second chance to live, followed by brief session on Organ donation & transplantation, brain death, scams, myths and facts about organ donation and the effective usage of organ donation helpline 1800 103 7100.

     

    Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance Officer, explained the mission of MOHAN Foundation, and the efforts put forth by MOHAN Foundation to create awareness on organ donation and improving the rate of organ donation in India. The session was interactive and all the doubts of the students were cleared. She further explained importance of family counseling to the donor family, role medical social workers and how the youth can promote organ donation.

     

    The session concluded with a thank you note from one of the students, and a click to remember.  After the session 6 students picked a donor card.
