CME on COVID-19 Challenges and Impact on Transplant

  • MOHAN Foundation, in collaboration with Jeevandan Cadaver Transplantation Program, conducted a 2-hour CME on COVID-19 Challenges and Impact on Transplant on 22nd May 2021, which was attended by more than 70 participants.

    Mr. Shridhar Hanchinal (Hon. Director MOHAN Foundation, Karnataka) delivered the welcome address, and introduced the speakers. Prof. Dr. Manisha Sahay moderated the session which was intended to be a refresher training for the Transplant Coordinators.

    An overview of the impact of COVID-19 on the various organ transplants was presented by the following experts:

    • Kidney Transplant - Dr. G Swarnalatha (Nephrologist, NIMS, Hospital)
    • Liver Transplant - Dr. Manish Varma (Liver Transplant Surgeon, Apollo Hospital)
    • Heart and Lung Transplant - Dr. Sandeep Attawar (Heart and Lung Transplant Surgeon and HOD, KIMS Hospital)
    • Family Counselling of Transplant Recipient/Donor - Mr. Girish (Transplant Coordinator, Apollo Hospital)

    This was followed by a Q&A/experience sharing segment by the following Transplant Coordinators:

    • Mr. Girish (Apollo Hospital)
    • Dr. Bhanu Chandra (Osmania General Hospital)
    • Ms. Jayalakshmi (Global Hospital)
    • Mr. Shankar Ganesh (KIMS Hospital)

    The closing remarks were delivered by Mr. Shridhar Hanchinal.
