  • On February 18, 2019, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness talk on organ donation at GroupM Media India Pvt. Ltd., Gurugram. It was organized by Mr. Nakul Bahiya (Group Head- Talent) as part of “Lighting the Sparks Movement 2019," an annual one week programme at GroupM towards creating social impact. Dr. Muneet Kaur Sahi coordinated the session and Dr. Pallavi Rekhi was the resource person for the session.

GroupM is the number one global media investment management group. They offer the intelligence to find or create valuable audiences, the power to engage them most effectively and efficiently, and the ability to create desired marketing outcomes.

Dr. Pallavi Rekhi began the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation and its activities followed by screening of a motivational video on organ donation. Then she began explaining the need to talk about and promote organ donation and transplantation with the help of worldwide statistics. Different organs and tissues that can be donated after death were enumerated. She further explained to the participants the concept of brain death and how is it different from coma. The process and importance of pledging to be an organ donor was also discussed.

The participants had many queries, to name a few:

    • How will MOHAN Foundation know that we are no more and that have pledged to be organ donors?
    • Why can’t India adopt the opt-out consent system?
    • Will the needy benefit from the organs that we donate?

All the queries were addressed by MF representatives. Close to 13 participants attended the session and approximately 11 forms (Form-7) were picked up.
