Awareness session on Organ Donation at N.V. Lakshmi Foundation, Hyderabad

  • N.V. Lakshmi, who is an organ donor, thus given a new lease of life to 6 others even in her death – setting an example that “GIVING” is in fact “LIVING”. She had a deep passion for helping the under privileged children.She suddenly passed away at a young age of 52 years on 7th June 2011 of Brain Hemorrhage.Her organs Heart, Liver, Kidneys & Eyes were donated through MOHAN Foundation. Her family has decided to continue her exemplary work while keeping intact her values and ethos of simplicity and “purpose” and has instituted “N V Lakshmi Foundation” – a foundation primarily focused on educating poor and needy children.

    On 13th December 2018 as it is the 60th Birthday of N.V. Lakshmi, the foundation organized a program to give awareness about the importance of life in the earth and the needs of organ donation in the present scenario which is collaborated with MOHAN Foundation.Sr. Lucy Kurian, who the founder of MAHER (Destitute Homes) was the chief guest for the program as a life example to the audience. The speakers told about the importance of organ donation and its importance. Because, Mrs.Lakshmi has donated her six organs to different people and saved six lives. This act inspired the people who gathered there.They pledged to donate their organs after death by signing the donor card.

    Mr. Bhanu Prakash and interns,namely Mr. Sachin Sunny, Mr. Sony Thomas explained about the organ donation and its misconceptions to the people. We distributed the organ donor card and brochures. Everybody gives positive response and ready to have a donor card.Through it public will get aware about the importance of the organ donation and transplants.
